An Garda Síochána is conducting a dedicated road traffic enforcement operation throughout the Christmas period. During the fourth week of the operation, there were 3 fatalities on our roads and 8 serious collisions that resulted in a number of people receiving serious injuries. Nearly 2,100 checkpoints were carried out by An Garda Síochána and 149 drivers were arrested for driving while under the influence of an intoxicant.
