Possibly over 3,200 years old, this bust of King Merneptah is attributed to the 19th Dynasty of the New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt, during his reign. It is carved from gray granite and shows the king as a middle-aged man, wearing the nemes headdress topped with a uraeus cobra. His names are inscribed on his shoulders, and traces of original paint suggest the headdress was once yellow, with eyes painted black and white.
