This week we’ve picked some footage of one of the most iconic Brooklands drivers from the Pathé Archive. This footage is of John Cobb setting a new World Land Speed Record of 353.30 mph on the 15th September 1938 in the Railton Mobil Special, becoming the first driver to exceed 350mph. He held the record for precisely 1 day before George Eyston in Thunderbolt broke it. Cobb would return to Bonneville almost one year later, on the 23rd August 1939 to set a new world land speed record of 369.70 mp
