Mumbai’s Rajabai Clock Tower is an iconic part of the city’s architectural history. Built in 1878, it was once the city’s tallest monument. Now, it stands in the University of Mumbai campus and holds the status of a Unesco World Heritage Site. The clock is not powered electronically, and must be wound manually. The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists have moved the Doomsday Clock closer to midnight than ever before. The clock is now 85 seconds to midnight. It symbolises how close humanity is to destruction, and scientists reveal that this is the closest the clock has ever been to midnight, amid the threats of nuclear weapons, climate change, and disruptive technologies.
