The largest and most complete ichthyosaur ever discovered in the UK was unearthed in Rutland, the country’s smallest county. Measuring over 10 meters in length, this ancient marine reptile was found during maintenance work at Rutland Water in February 2021 and was officially revealed in 2022. Here’s a huge Ichthyosaur vertebra we found in a rock pool! How long had it been sat there? The surrounding nodule was coated in natural pyrite which we had to remove using the tools at home. We also found a spherical nodule, we hoped it would contain an Eleganticeras ammonite from the Jurassic! 😍 With a smooth strike of the hammer the rock split perfectly in half to reveal some beautifully preserved specimens 🦕🦖🏝 Thanks for supporting our page! 🐊 #natural #nature #fossil #fossils #ancient
