I have been raising monarch caterpillars for several years here in New Zealand and I love doing so. I love to see their lifecycles from eggs to caterpillars to pup to butterfly. It’s a pure joy to see them fly away but it is also heartbreaking when their wings sometimes don’t unfurl properly and then I have to put them in the freezer because that’s a kind death, poor things poor things but I’m sure this year we will have lots of living ones who will fly to freedom and make next years butterflies
