So when someone else's emotions show up (like crying) it can feel overwhelming to them. Like a fire alarm going off in a room they can't leave. So they find ways to turn it off. They tell you to stop crying. They get angry. They kick you out of the room. Whatever ends the discomfort the fastest. And when this happens enough times, you get conditioned to treat your own emotion
