The NASCAR schedule on Saturday afternoon took us to Iowa Speedway for 250 laps of the HyVee Perks 250. In a field that included Connor Zilisch, Ross Chastain, Austin Dillon and Carson Hocevar, the NASCAR Xfinity Series results from Iowa shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. But we did get a new winner in 2025.

Mayer, 22, of Franklin, Wisconsin, held off Reiley Herbst in overtime in the June 2024 Hy-Vee Perks 250 at the Iowa Speedway. On Saturday Aug. 2, Mayer cruised to his second-straight win in the Xfinity Series race after a late restart.

Sam Mayer took control of Saturday’s Hy-Vee Perks 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Iowa Speedway after a lap 221 restart and maintained it the rest of the way to record the first victory for the Haas Factory team and the first in the series for Ford this season.
