Tesla stock was rising—barely—in early trading Tuesday as shares have suddenly gotten less volatile. Predicting the electric vehicle maker’s daily stock moves isn’t easy, but shares are likely to get a boost from potential changes to President Donald Trump’s car tariffs.

President Trump is offering automakers rebates for a portion of the tariffs on auto parts that automakers import to build vehicles in the U.S.

The president is alleviating the impact of his duties, some of which have yet to take effect. So far, GM and Tesla are spending less — not more.
