History lesson aside, this report has to be music to the ears of Red Sox Nation, who likely saw a competing report from earlier in the day on Tuesday from WEEI’s Rob Bradford saying the Red Sox and Diamondbacks were not close on a trade despite the continued rumors between the two sides.

Boston dealt Teel –– along with prospects Braden Montgomery, Chase Meidroth and Wikelman Gonzalez –– to Chicago in a December 2024 trade that sent 2025 AL Cy Young runner-up Garrett Crochet to the Red Sox.

Last season, as a platoon hitting outfielder for the Red Sox, Refsnyder hit .269 with an .838 OPS in 70 games and 182 at-bats. His role will be to hit left-handed pitching, and against lefties in 2025, he hit .302 with a .959 OPS.
