Firefighters made progress battling back the deadly Los Angeles blazes overnight into Saturday, Jan, 18. as President-elect Donald Trump said he likely will visit the fire-torn areas next week. “I will be, probably, at the end of the week,” Trump told NBC News in an interview on Saturday.

Firefighters continued their efforts on the Palisades and Eaton fires on Saturday, hoping to make as much progress as possible before another round of fire weather is expected to return next week.

Over a week after destructive wildfires erupted in the Los Angeles area, fire crews have made progress with containment and stopped the growth of the Eaton and Palisades fires.

Some residents evacuated in the Palisades fire also were allowed to return home on Thursday afternoon. Their homes are in an area near the Encino Reservoir, bordered on the east by the 405 Freeway and Westridge Canyonback Wilderness and north of West Sunset Boulevard.
