Infielder Jorge Polanco and the New York Mets are in agreement on a two-year, $40 million contract, sources tell ESPN. It’s the Mets’ first move in the aftermath of Pete Alonso and Edwin Díaz’s departures and the trade of Brandon Nimmo. Polanco can play first, second and third base and will DH as well.
On Friday, the Royals and Garcia agreed to a five-year contract extension, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. Specific salary details of the deal have not yet been reported. The contract also includes a club option for a sixth year, according to Passan.
