Blizzard warnings have been issued south and east of Denver. Treacherous travel due to wind and snow is expected overnight Monday into Tuesday afternoon for portions of Colorado's Eastern Plains.Let me start with the high country as widespread 4-10 inches of snow is expected throughout the day on Monday.

The National Weather Service issued blizzard warnings in the Great Plains on Monday, as a system that will bring snow and high winds is expected to ramp up early Tuesday morning. “Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening.

A strengthening storm system will move across the country this week, bringing blizzard conditions to the Heartland and tornadoes and damaging winds to the South.

The NWS says south-central and southeastern Minnesota – including Dakota County in the Twin Cities metro – are under a blizzard watch, with heavy snow set to combine with strong winds gusts of between 40-50 mph.

Storm Lola is heading to the Central Plains and Midwest. The storm will bring some severe winter weather. Several alerts have been issued by the National Weather Service, including warnings of blizzards in northeast Colorado and western Nebraska.

As the rain changes over to snow it's going to bring a wide range of wintry conditions to much of southern Minnesota.

Wednesday sees a return to sunshine, although winds still may be strong. The winds will be breezy out west, but not as bad. Farther east, they will still be gusty, but should come down by the afternoon. High temperatures will mostly be in the 40s, although some with snow cover may remain in the 30s.

The same system that is set to cause a severe weather threat across the Deep South this week is also expected to cause a significant winter weather threat from the Rockies to the Upper Midwest. The system has been named Winter Storm Lola by The Weather Channel.

Blizzard warnings are in effect as Winter Storm Lola could bring a half a foot of snow and wind gusts up to 65 mph in parts of the Plains. Whiteout conditions are expected in parts of Nebraska and Colorado along Interstate 80 and Interstate 76.
