The FedEx Cup Playoffs have varied in their level of predictability over the last few years with the 2025 edition likely to fall into a more unpredictable category. With the PGA Tour in May announcing a change to the Tour Championship format that will allow all 30 golfers in the postseason final to start at a level playing field,

Points then decreased in each tournament based on finishing positioning, with only players who made the cut at each tournament earning points. During the first two FedEx Cup playoff events, however, winners will take home 2,000 points, which allows lower-rated golfers a chance to make up ground.
