Pahalgam terror attack: US designates Lashkar’s proxy TRF as ‘Foreign Terrorist Organization’
The US Department of State on Thursday designated The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), following the group’s claim of responsibility for a deadly attack on tourists on April 22.
U.S. Designates TRF A Terrorist Organization, Citing Links To LeT
The SDGT label allows the U.S. to block financial assets linked to the group and its members, while the FTO designation restricts travel and imposes additional legal and financial penalties. Transfers of material support to the group also become prosecutable offenses under U.S. law.
