By Mongabay.com On Aug. 5, a flash flood devastated much of the Himalayan village of Dharali in India’s Uttarakhand state. As of Aug. 17, six people were confirmed dead, while 60-70 people remained missing.
A NEXT Weather Alert is in effect on Sunday night as multiple counties in the Philadelphia region are under a flash flood warning due to heavy rain.
The flood watch issued on Sunday remains in place through the morning, with the NWS saying new showers and storms "will lead to a chance for additional flooding and flash flooding," while also noting that the Twin Cities could be impacted during the morning commute.
Chinese state media say a flash flood has swept through a campsite in north China, killing several people and leaving others missing.
The watch was in place for Southern Blue Mountains of Oregon, John Day Basin and Ochoco-John Day Highlands.
