Guitar player and singer Dave Mustaine founded Megadeth 40 years ago after he was famously kicked out of Metallica. Since then, the band has churned out 16 studio albums and taken home a Grammy. All of that is about to come to an end with the announcement that the band will put out a final album next year followed by a global tour.

Mustaine’s memoir will also arrive next year. The book will follow the 2020 oral history Rust in Peace: The Inside Story of the Megadeth Masterpiece and former lead guitarist Marty Friedman’s memoir Dreaming Japanese, released last year. Megadeth’s global farewell tour will kick off in 2026; dates have yet to be announced.
