Allstate said the wildfires blazed through Southern California last month will bring the insurance company a sizable loss – $1.1 billion.

California utility company Southern California Edison on Thursday said its equipment “may be associated with” the ignition of the Hurst Fire, which burned alongside the Eaton and Palisades fires during January’s Los Angeles firestorms.

This article has been updated to clarify SCE’s position. LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – Southern California Edison is acknowledging that its equipment may have started the Hurst Fire in Sylmar last month, which burned nearly 800 acres and damaged two mobile homes.

Southern California Edison (SCE), a subsidiary of Edison International , said on Thursday that it was probing whether its equipment was associated with the ignition of two Los Angeles-area wildfires this year.

The utility company said its equipment may have caused the fire but that an investigation is continuing and that they are cooperating with authorities.
