Robin van Persie is closing in on the Feyenoord head coach job, just a year into his managerial career, sources have told ESPN.

Robin van Persie is on course for a potential reunion with Arsenal in the Champions League. Van Persie, currently in charge of Heerenveen, is close to being appointed by Feyenoord as their new head coach.

Feyenoord have reached an agreement in principle to make Robin van Persie their new head coach with Rene Hake his assistant. Deals are place in place between Feyenoord and Heerenveen, where former Arsenal and Manchester United forward Van Persie is currently head coach,

Van Persie began and ended his professional career at Feyenoord, scoring 46 goals in 122 appearances. He is at the very beginning of his coaching career but the chance to take over at his "first love" has proved too difficult to ignore.
