The man accused of shooting and killing a Wake County deputy is being extradited back to the United States to face murder charges, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office. In August 2022, Alder Alfonso Marin-Sotelo was indicted on a charge of first-degree murder following the shooting death of Deputy Ned Byrd.
The bus had been crossing the border “every week or two weeks” for months before it was caught, according to officials.
Two men were convicted of first-degree murder and other charges in connection with a shooting in New Mexico that killed an 11-year-old boy and wounded his cousin, prosecutors said. Nathen Garley and Jose Romero each face life in prison plus 49 years, the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office said in a Feb. 21 post on Facebook.
