Parents began reporting issues with their online ballots in the early morning, including candidates who had withdrawn their names.

The last contested general election in 2021 on Staten Island’s South Shore saw Borelli, a Republican, best Democrat Oivia Drabczyk after 40,905 voters had their ballots counted. The last contested special election in 2007 saw Vincent Ignizio defeat Manny Inamorato after nearly 5,700 votes were counted.

The city Education Department suspended voting Friday to address “technical issues” with voting for the parent councils. Several parents reported glitches and mistakes in the online voting system.

Poll sites, which can be found on the Board of Election website, will be open Monday, and Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.; on Wednesday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Election Day, Tuesday, April 29, will see poll sites opened from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
