One of the most common criticisms of Leigh Whannell's new Wolf Man movie is that it almost feels like it's embarrassed to be an adaptation of Universal's iconic creature. Above all else, the film opts for a decidedly more scaled-back, pared-down depiction of the title character, who definitely skews more into man than wolf.

As it exits theaters in the coming days, Wolf Man has driven a stake through the $20 million mark as its final domestic box office milestone.

With the film's box office tracking poorly in the weeks leading up to its release this past January, Universal ultimately decided to press the panic button, and a full 10 days before it hit cinemas, they dropped a clip spoiling the title character's full transformation.
