Releasing on the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026, Pokémon: Pokopia will let your human-like Ditto befriend other Pokémon and learn their moves. A preview released as part of Friday’s Nintendo Direct showed the Ditto chatting with a Bulbasaur to learn how to grow grass while a Squirtle helped revive dried out plants.

Four different third-party games are getting Switch 2 Edition upgrades with various new features, like improved visuals, mouse support, and webcam support. These games are One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, Overcooked 2, Stardew Valley, and Human Fall Flat.

This is set to be a significant one, as it's the company's first proper Direct since the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal back in April and, by extension, the first Switch 2-era Nintendo Direct, with the only ones since then being game-specific or one of the smaller directs like a Partner Showcase or Indie World.

Whenever there's a Nintendo Direct in September, you can be pretty sure that it'll be a major edition of the showcase. Given that Friday's one was scheduled to be about an hour long and that Nintendo has a whole new console to put games on, it was already likely that there was going to be a lot of news.

Nintendo has officially confirmed that a new Direct livestream will be held on Friday, September 12. The presentation will run for roughly 60 minutes and will be focused on upcoming Switch and Switch 2 games.
