The Seattle area will see patchy fog with rain that persists into the afternoon then drops off a bit before picking up again later Thursday evening.

When Eddie Wicks and his wife went to bed in their house next to the Snoqualmie River on a Washington state farm known for its sunflower mazes and Christmas trees, they weren’t too worried about the flooding heading their way.

Gov. Bob Ferguson, who has warned that as many as 100,000 people would need to evacuate statewide, said Friday the Trump administration has approved a disaster declaration.

Drier weather is coming, but flooding effects are likely to continue for days across portions of western Washington state and northwestern Oregon.

Tens of thousands of people evacuated their homes as rivers throughout the Puget Sound region rose to historic levels Thursday, and scores more Washingtonians needed rescue or entire communities were cut off.

An atmospheric river event that's been slamming the Pacific Northwest with rain is now focused on western Washington.

"The only clothes I got is just my pajamas," 7-year-old Jocelyn Rosas told CBS News' Carter Evans, as flooding devastated parts of Washington state.
