Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan’s defense argues ‘top levels of government’ pushed to bring charges
Prosecutors are trying to convince a jury that a Wisconsin judge put her personal beliefs above the law and helped a Mexican immigrant evade federal authorities seeking to arrest him in the courthouse.
To convict Dugan, the jury's vote must be unanimous. Given the massive publicity, both sides agreed to send out a high number of questionnaires for prospective jurors to answer. Initially, 120 went out, and then another 50. For comparison, usually about 50 go out in a case.
Lawyers for Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan filed a motion to have the federal obstruction case against her thrown out.
