Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said Thursday, Philadelphia had Jihaad Campbell graded as a top-10 player on its board.

Campbell was the first pure linebacker the Eagles have drafted in decades, and after years of mostly drafting in the early rounds to ensure that they were stocked up at the offensive/defensive lines first and foremost, the past 12 months or so on defense have had an eye on the position groups further back.

The latest example of that came Thursday night when the Eagles traded up a single pick to draft Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell with the 31st pick in the first round. The move was universally celebrated...and feared. Campbell is the first off-ball linebacker to be drafted by the team in the first round since 1979.
