State Senator London Lamar of Memphis, the Senate Democratic Caucus Chairwoman, sent a letter to Tennessee Governor Bill Lee asking him to enroll the state in the federal Summer EBT program, a program designed to help parents afford groceries for school-aged kids during the summer months when free and reduced-priced lunches are not available.

"When you come up with a reasonable solution and show real results, people become less partisan," Memphis City Councilmember Jerri Green said.
