Here's where and when the Artemis II astronauts are expected to splash down tonight and 10 of the most stunning photos from the historic mission.
While splashdown can be harrowing – the spacecraft will hurdle through the atmosphere faster than the speed of sound and reach temperatures in the thousands of degrees – NASA has been doing it for decades.
Indian Air Force Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, along with three fellow astronauts from the Axiom-4 mission, boarded the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft on Monday to begin their return to Earth. The mission is scheduled to conclude with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean near the California coast on Tuesday.
