OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Artemi Panarin reached 900 NHL points with a goal and an assist and the New York Rangers won for the league-leading 12th time on the road, beating the Ottawa Senators 4-2 on Thursday night.
Panarin is the sixth undrafted player since 1963-64 to reach 900 career points in 800 games or fewer (781), joining Wayne Gretzky (385 games), Peter Stastny (599 games), Bobby Orr (638 games), Phil Esposito (692 games) and Adam Oates (735 games).
Rangers defeat Senators, but Ottawa suffers a bigger blow. Shane Pinto sustained a lower-body injury, compounding the team's mounting injury woes.
The Ottawa Senators lost more than just two points on Thursday night. The club also lost another one of its top players when centre Shane Pinto didn’t finish the Senators’ 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers in front of 15,533 at the Canadian Tire Centre.

Rangers Outlast Senators in 4-2 Win
The New York Rangers (14-12-2) defeated the Ottawa Senators (13-9-4) 4-2 at the Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday night. Dylan Cozens and Drake Batherson scored for the Senators.
Artemi Panarin had a goal and an assist and J.T. Miller recorded three assists in the New York Rangers' 4-2 road win over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.
But offence from the defence has played a big role in the Ottawa Senators’ success this season. The Senators had six points from their defencemen in the club’s huge 5-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre and that was a key in the club closing out its lengthy seven-game trip with a 4-3-0 record.
