David Lynch’s cause of death revealed - ‘Mulholland Drive’ and ‘Twin Peaks’ director died on January 16 at the age of 78

David Lynch died on Jan. 15, 2025 from complications of emphysema, a chronic lung disease, at the age of 78. He was known primarily for his direction of surreal and dreamlike movies, such as “Eraserhead,” “The Elephant Man,” “Blue Velvet,” “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me,” “Lost Highway,” “Mulholland Drive” and his popular TV show: “Twin Peaks.”

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed that David Lynch died from cardiac arrest. The acclaimed director’s death certificate was released Friday, according to TMZ. The document said that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was an underlying condition that contributed to Lynch’s death and noted dehydration was another significant contributor.
