Evacuations ordered due to brush fire threatening buildings in Simi Valley
Evacuations were ordered due to a wind-driven brush fire Monday in Simi Valley. The fire was reported in the area of Sandy Drive, where a thick smoke cloud was rising from the canyon area. Flames were threatening buildings in the area.
The Sandy Fire in Ventura County comes as authorities also battle the Burro Fire and Santa Rosa Island Fire. See size, containment and fire maps.
The island has been closed to visitors, and all non-fire staff were evacuated on Sunday, the National Park Service said.
