American Idol is back once more to showcase new competition and talent. But this year will feel a little different with Katy Perry stepping down. Perry has served as a judge since the series was rebooted in Season 16.

ABC allowed Carrie Underwood to reintroduce herself on Sunday, offering curious viewers a taste of what she’ll bring to the judges’ table when American Idol officially returns for Season 23 on March 9 (8/7c).
