BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Sam Leavitt overcame three interceptions with a three touchdowns rushing, and No. 8 LSU pulled away in the second half for a 45-14 victory over a Louisiana Tech team that gave the Tigers fits for the better part of their match-up Saturday night.

Coach Lane Kiffin said LSU’s rushing struggles deserved some of the blame for the two red-zone turnovers. Leavitt, he said, was trying to do “too much” at times to compensate for an inefficient ground game. In the first half, the Tigers scrounged together only 44 rushing yards on 23 attempts.
