As revealed at the end of Episode 4, the Manhunter is in fact Zoe Macon, played by Poorna Jagannathan. In an interview with Variety, Jagannathan said that she had no idea she was the Manhunter until she got the script for the fourth episode. “Everyone saw it coming except me!” she says with a laugh.
The founder of the Red Lantern Corps, Atrocitus is the first-ever Red Ring wielder. His intentions and actions are purely filled with rage. Intriguingly, he has a resemblance to the biblical creature, Satan. The sector that was destroyed by the Manhunters is numbered Sector 666, where all of his family members once lived.

John leaves Hal in the rubble where Zoe comes to finally finish the job. Only, John betrays her, using Hal as bait and killing the Manhunter. He cuts her heart out and takes the ring from Hal, who reminds John that the Guardians betrayed him and they’ll eventually betray John too.

Lanterns fails as an adaptation by ignoring what made the Green Lantern comics so beloved. The hit HBO Max series has proven engaging enough to build a loyal audience. However, the show’s writers seem to be actively avoiding drawing upon the books that allegedly inspired the show.
The dominant theme of this week’s action-packed and chaotic episode was evolution. Situations shift. People move on.
