PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Additional police were sent to Providence schools on Tuesday to reassure worried parents that their kids will be safe with the Brown University shooter on the loose and no indication yet that investigators have zeroed in on a specific suspect.

Once we identify who this person is, I believe we’ll be able to locate them,” Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said of the person of interest in the deadly Brown University mass shooting.

A community service was held at St. Stephen's Church in Providence in memory of the two students killed in a mass shooting on the Brown University campus Saturday afternoon.

Experts told the Globe that every minute counts in an investigation like this, and that it is unusual to have so little information four days after a mass shooting.

Brown University announced Tuesday that it had canceled its men’s basketball game against USC on Sunday in Los Angeles. Sunday’s women’s basketball game against Monmouth has also been canceled. The decision comes in the wake of a shooting on the Brown campus Saturday morning in Providence.

Professor Rachel Friedberg confirmed to other media outlets that the attack occurred during a review session for her principles of economics class. A Brown student on TikTok explained that the shots were fired in Room 166, one of the large auditorium-style lecture halls on the first floor of the seven-floor Barus & Holley building at 184 Hope St.
