The ‘Wicked’ star is saying goodbye to Studio 8H stage. But that’s not without dishing out a few noteworthy performances.
Yang's final episode, airing on Saturday night, will be hosted by Ariana Grande, one of the stars of the film Wicked: For Good. Yang also had a role in the film, and has starred in previous films including The Wedding Banquet, Fire Island, Bros and the first Wicked film.
The entertainment news outlet reported Friday that Yang's final appearance on the show will take place on the Dec. 20 episode, which will be hosted by his friend and "Wicked" co-star Ariana Grande. Cher will serve as the musical guest. Representatives for "SNL" did not initially respond to ABC Audio's request for comment.
Bowen Yang is exiting Studio 8H. Following departures from Ego Nwodim and Heidi Gardner, Yang will exit the cast of "Saturday Night Live."
Bowen Yang says goodbye to SNL, Roy Wood Jr. rings in the holiday season, and Julie Chen Moonves emcees the Family Film and TV Awards.
If the timing seems familiar at all, that may be because long-time cast member Cecily Strong also left the show immediately after its Christmas episode in 2022. Other mid-season departures from the show including Norm MacDonald, Molly Shannon, Eddie Murphy, and Dana Carvey.
