Forget Pewdiepie, YouTube will become the exclusive home of the Academy Awards beginning in 2029
The partnership includes the Oscars ceremony as well as worldwide access to "other Academy events and programs."
The Oscars are on the move. YouTube has won the rights to host the Academy Awards starting in 2029. The Google-owned service outbid other offers, including one from longtime ABC, which has been hosting the event since 1976.
The Academy Awards will be heading to YouTube after its current deal with ABC expires, the Academy announced on Wednesday.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and YouTube announced Dec. 17 that the Oscars will be broadcast globally on YouTube between 2029 and 2033. The Academy said its current domestic broadcast partnership with ABC will run through the 100th Oscars in 2028.
