On Wednesday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent a letter to the state's colleges and universities stating he would not support any undergraduate tuition and fee increases over the next two years. This would extend the tuition freeze currently in place.

Abbott said he spoke to all of the university system Boards of Regents, whose members agree with his position.
